Reading the site
You can read every essay without giving us anything. There is no account requirement, no paywall, and no advertising cookie.
Analytics
We count visits in aggregate: how many people read a page, which country they read from, and which link brought them. No cookies are set for this, your IP address is discarded after the country lookup, and nothing builds a profile of you across sites.
Two services do this counting: the platform that hosts the site, and Plausible Analytics. Your browser sends Plausible the page address, the referring link, your browser type and your IP address. Plausible uses the IP address only to make a daily visitor count it cannot reverse, and does not store it.
The newsletter
If you subscribe, we store your email address, the date you signed up, which page you signed up from, and, if a friend's link brought you, which reader shared it so they can be credited. We use it to send Unfiltered and nothing else. We do not sell, rent, or share the list. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from future sends immediately.
Correction requests
If you send a correction request, we store the passage, the source you supplied, your note and, if you give it, your email address, so we can review the evidence and reply.
Questions, the Docket and follows
A question you put to Ask Dahling is stored with the answer, and anyone with the answer's link can read both, so don't include personal details. A claim you send to the Readers' Docket is stored with the link and, if you give it, your email, which we use only to tell you when the claim is checked. If you follow a claim, we store your email address and what you follow. Nothing is followed until you click the link we email you.
Email to the site
Email sent to the site's addresses, such as the press address, is stored with the sender's name and address. A model sorts it and drafts a reply for Alicia to read. Nothing is sent automatically. These emails are deleted 180 days after the last message in the conversation.
Accounts
Only the editor has an account. Readers never need one.
How long we keep it
Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Correction requests are kept while they are useful to the record and removed on request. Aggregate analytics are not tied to an identifiable person.
Asking for your data or its deletion
Write to media@unapologeticallydahling.com and say what you want. Tell us the email address you used so we can find the right record. We will confirm when it is done.

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update this page and note the change here.
